FlexyDually Tool Head v2
Aleph Objects, manufacturer of the open source line of Lulzbot 3D printers, has released a new multi-material tool head, the LulzBot TAZ FlexyDually Tool Head v2.
This professional-level upgrade was first announced at CES during the launch of the LulzBot TAZ Dual Extruder Tool Head v2 and enables users to 3D print both flexible and rigid materials during a single print run.
“LulzBot 3D printers feature proven extruders with industry-leading robustness and millions of hours of testing and use,” Aleph Objects, Inc. Vice President of Marketing Harris Kenny explained. “By upgrading the LulzBot tool head line, our community has better ways than ever to reliably prototype and bring ideas to life.”
The FlexyDually Tool Head v2 upgrade is compatible with the LulzBot TAZ 4 and up and uses open format 3 mm filament, heats up to 300 degrees Celsius (572 degrees Fahrenheit), and is capable of printing dozens of combinations of materials.
The tool head is officially supported in the latest version of Cura LulzBot Edition, which includes built-in quick print profiles for popular materials like NinjaFlex and SemiFlex from NinjaTek. Like all LulzBot products, the FlexyDually Tool Head v2 is shared under Open Source Hardware licenses.
The hardware joins LulzBot 3D wide range of tool heads, including the LulzBot Mini Single Extruder Tool Head v2, LulzBot TAZ Single Extruder Tool Head v2, LulzBot Mini Flexystruder Tool Head v2, LulzBot TAZ Dual Extruder Tool Head v2 and LulzBot TAZ FlexyDually Tool Head v2.
