After partnering with DiSanto Technology in February last year Arcam, leader in industrial 3D-printing solutions for metals, has now solidified that partnership by acquiring the company to manufacture advanced EBM based implants and other components.
The acquisition will see Arcam’s EBM technology and DiSanto’s expertise in orthopaedic implant manufacturing push the market adoption of additive manufacturing in the implant industry.
“Through this acquisition Arcam’s offering will cover the entire supply chain for our customers: Metal powders through AP&C, acquired earlier this year, EBM systems and services through Arcam AB and finished products through DiSanto,” says Magnus René, CEO of Arcam. “The acquisition is thus in line with our growth strategy, it complements our technology and product portfolio, and it is immediately accretive. We are very pleased to welcome the skilled DiSanto team to the Arcam group.”
DiSanto will bring a fully equipped certified production facility for finished orthopaedic implants and around 100 employees to the Arcam group. The company was acquired for $15.8M in cash and through Arcam stocks issued in February last year. In the last 12 months, DiSanto generated around $12M in revenue and is expected to have a positive effect on Arcam’s earnings per share this year.
