The CRP Group is celebrating two milestones in the manufacturing industry as the company marks 45 years in the precision mechanical machining sector and 20 years in additive manufacturing.
Founded in 1970 by Roberto Cevolini, the company was initially tailored to precision CNC machining in the motorsport industry but since then has transformed to meet the demands of the international market.
CRP Group comprises six companies, CRP Meccanica, CRP Technology, CRP USA, CRP Service, CRP Engineering and Energica Motor Company which each offer consolidated alternative to traditional manufacturing methods for small services and the production of functional prototypes and end-use components.
CRP Technology first adopted 3D printing technology in the 1990s and now the subsidiary, along with CRP USA, are rethinking the use of this technology to apply it to new industries.
Windform materials applied to motorsport applications.
With the development of Windform materials, the company has been expanding these durable, impermeable and insulating materials in additive manufacturing applications. Suitable for both 3D printing and CNC machining, these materials have been used to develop parts such as the F1 Titanium Rapid Casting Gearbox which was built with rapid casting by CRP Technology for the Minardi F1 Team. Windform XT, a carbon filled material capable of producing functional prototypes is also celebrating 10 years of tough applications from motorsport to space.
Most recently, the company applied its selective laser sintering and Windform XT 2.0 technology to launch the CubeSat nanosatellite into orbit together with Kentucky Space Centre, University of Kentucky and Morehead State University.
