Energica Eva electric motorbike 3D printed front nose finished and used for pre-production series - manufactured by CRP Technology, material Windform XT 2.0.
CRP Technology, an advanced additive manufacturing material developer, is to gain access to the German and Austrian markets via a reseller agreement with Laser Sinter Service (LSS) GmbH.
The partnership has come to fruition as CRP Technology bids to strengthen its presence in Europe. It will see LSS not only sell CRP’s Windform XT 2.0 and Windform SP materials, but also provide support to the users of the products.
“We are pleased to launch this new dealer alliance,” said Franco Cevolini, CEO and Technical Director at CRP Technology. “LSS is our support and service provider for AM. We have known each other for a very long time now. Together with LSS we’ve developed customer-specific solutions and hardware and software upgrades for our 3D Printing Department. Now with LSS, we have decided to improve our collaboration. This agreement will further strengthen our business relationship and it will act as an important step in introducing Windform materials to new customers throughout Germany and Austria.”
Hermann Hanning, CTO of LSS GmbH added: “I think this strategic collaboration is a logical consequence of our long-term partnership. We are thrilled being able to offer a benchmark-setting turn-key solutions consisting of CRP’s Windform XT 2.0/ SP materials and LSS powdered polymer laser sintering equipment.”
Windform XT 2.0, developed by CRP’s research and development department, is a carbon-fibre reinforced composite material, popular for its advanced mechanical properties. The second version of the material grade, Windform XT boasts an 8% increase in tensile strength, 22% increase in tensile modulus, and 46% increase in elongation at break compared to the original product. It is suitable for use in demanding applications, such as in the front air inlet of a Moto3 motorcycle.
Similarly, the Windform SP also boasts impressive mechanical properties, but with the addition of increased resistance to shock, vibrations and deformation. It also has waterproof properties, and is resistant to high temperatures, absorption of liquids and moisture.
