Italian additive manufacturing (AM) specialist, CRP Technology has announced the launch of its latest high-performance AM material, WINDFORM FX BLACK.
The new material is the sixth addition to the WINDFORM family of composite materials for professional 3D Printing, characterised by exceptional resistance to repeated bending and torsion, and excellent impact resistance, even at low temperatures.
WINDFORM FX BLACK is a new generation polyamide based composite material with a dark black aesthetic. Its mechanical characteristics make it particularly suited for AM applications.
“It is thanks to this feature that WINDFORM FX BLACK is suitable for applications in the winter sports industry,” explains Franco Cevolini, CEO of CRP Group. “We also recommend it for design applications that require a strong visual impact. CRP lends form and substance to everyone’s most creative ideas with WINDFORM FX BLACK.”
CRP Technology says the material’s consistency and behaviour are similar to polypropylene and ABS injection moulded parts. No post-production treatments are needed, as the material has an excellent surface finish in its sintered state. Any additional manual finishing improves its polish.
WINDFORM FX BLACK is ideal for a range of applications including flexible components with fine details, along with accurate, reliable, and long lasting prototypes, and functional applications and parts with living hinges or clip fittings. It is also suitable for ducting of complex shapes, or for thin walled connectors with snap-fit systems.
CRP Technology’s parent group CRP Group recently expanded its production facility with two AM systems; Ricoh’s AM S5500P, the company’s first AM system, and Concept Laser’s X line 2000R, the world’s largest laser melting based 3D printer.
