Following the news of its latest 3D printing material, Somos Element joining its additive manufacturing portfolio, Royal DSM, a science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials, has announced today it will increase the capacity at its Hoek van Holland (Netherlands) site for the production of Somos UV-curable additive manufacturing materials.
This investment is in response to increased customer demand and growth of the 3D printing industry in which Somos has been a part of for over 20 years. As this industry continues to grow, so does the need for innovative materials. Somos is focused on developing materials that support existing and new photopolymer-based equipment for industrial applications while moving the industry from prototyping to end use parts.
"Expansion of the current production footprint will include new state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing equipment," explained Bastiaan van Wieringen, Site Manager Hoek van Holland. "We have over 30 years of experience at this site producing high-quality, UV-curable products and look forward to supporting the Somos business and their growth objectives."
"We are thrilled with the growth experienced by our customers and the industry," says Melissa Lutz, Business Director Somos. "This investment allows us to have more capacity available to grow with them and continue to enable new opportunities in the world of 3D Printing."
