DuPont high-performance 3D printing materials are now available to purchase in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) through German RepRap.
In a joint-announcement, the two companies revealed EMEA customers would now be able to buy DuPont Hytrel thermoplastic elastomers and DuPont Zytel nylon-based filaments, and also told of their plans moving forward. Together, DuPont and German RepRap will work to develop advanced process technologies and new materials, as they bid to deliver new options for manufacturers in a range of vertical industrial markets.
DuPont’s existing materials already benefit users in an array of industries, providing high quality, reliability and performance in various applications. Hytrel is available in two varieties, offering different levels of strength – Hytrel 3D4000FL with a shore D of 40 and Hytrel 3D4100 with a shore D of 60. With these, customers can produce functional parts that boast resilience, durability, and heat and chemical resistance. DuPont suggest components made in this material have mechanical properties similar to those made with injection moulding. Meanwhile, Zytel 3D1000FL is said to produce strong and stiff functional parts, high heat deflection temperature, low warpage, low sensitivity to moisture, and excellent surface aesthetics.
The partners believe by making these materials accessible to EMEA additive manufacturers they can truly achieve the benefits of 3D printing: greater design freedom, lightweighting, and reduced product development cycles, for example.
“With these new high performance 3D filaments open for all printers and the know-how of industrial 3D printing of German RepRap, Fused Filament Fabrication makes a step forward to become a credible manufacturing option for functional components,” said Ernst Poppe, New Business Development Manager EMEA, DuPont.
Florian Bautz, Managing Director of German RepRap, added: “We are looking forward to expanding our filament portfolio with the new high-performance materials from DuPont. The tests have shown that the materials can be processed brilliantly on our machines and allow customers to produce functional parts with outstanding technical properties.”
German RepRap will exhibit the DuPont materials at Stand D30, Hall 3.1 at formnext powered by TCT next month.
Last month, DuPont announced a similar deal with Coex LLC, a 3D printing material supplier who will distribute the Hytrel thermoplastic elastomer and Zytel nylon-based filaments in the US, Canada and Mexico.
"We are very excited customers in North America can now purchase DuPont high-performance materials in filament from for 3D printing through Coex LLC," said Rahul Kasat, business development leader, DuPont Performance Materials. "We continue to get very positive feedback on ease of printing and performance of these products from customers across multiple industries."
