Additive manufacturing leader EnvisionTEC, is to unveil a brand new 3D printer today at JCK Las Vegas, jewellery industry expo.
The WaxEra machine is a first of it’s kind 3D printer capable of printing highly intricate designs using wax paste, designed for manufacturing using EnvisionTEC DLP-based 3D printers.
EnvisionTEC’s industry first E-Wax material is a paste material with a polymer binder. The new generation paste is built for a wide range of applications across the jewellery sector and can be investment casted regardless of wall thickness. Casters can also take advantage of the ease of casting E-Wax in the same tree as traditional wax patterns in silver, white gold, and platinum without the need for any significant change to standard burnout cycles or the use of sophisticated casting equipment.
Joining E-Wax on the showfloor will be EnvisionTEC’s EC3000 easy to cast material which has three time more wax than any polymer based material including EC500. Designed for EnvisionTEC's Perfactory and Micro families of 3D printers, benefits include its high detail output and no boil during burnout, a common cause of porosity during casting.

The company will also be introducing the brand new QView material at the show with a selection of designs from the recent Ring Design Contest. Visitors will be able to see up close the material’s competitive print speeds of up to an inch an hour for the full build envelope at 50 µm resolution. QView will allow jewellery designers to put get their custom design pieces to customers in record time.
Developments in the jewellery sector with AM are allowing more jewellery designers to realise their designs and get them to market in rapid time. The ability to quickly prototype and iterate gives designers the freedom to produce custom designs on demand without huge inventory or length of time taken by traditional jewellery manufacturing processes.
QView rings printed in an hour.
