EPMA
The European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) has launched a new European additive manufacturing committee after discussions with members across the additive manufacturing supply chain.
EPMA is establishing the new sectoral group with immediate affect.
The new European Additive Manufacturing Group aims to increase awareness of additive manufacturing technology with a special focus on metal powder-based products.
The group hopes to enable the benefits of joint action through research programmes, workshops and the exchange of knowledge; improve the understanding of the benefits of metal-based additive manufacturing technology by end users, designers, engineers, metallurgists and students; and assist in the development of international standards for the sector.
There will be two co-chairmen of the newly-formed group, with the responsibility falling to Ralf Carlström of Höganäs AB, Sweden, and Claus Aumund-Kopp from Fraunhofer IFAM, Germany.
These individuals will be charged with coordinating activities in several areas including conferences and workshops, promotional activities, technical research programmes, training and standardisation.
It is believed the European Additive Manufacturing Group will convene for regular summits and will be open to businesses across the supply chain who are or will become members of the EPMA.
