FIT Additive Manufacturing Group has announced the establishment of FIT Japan K.K., a new fully owned subsidiary that aims to increase the German-headquartered company’s presence in the Japanese market.
Noting that technical development in Japan has fallen behind behind that of Europe and North America, FIT says the market is growing in response to increased demand from end-use application industries such as healthcare and automotive. In fact, analysts last year found that the country had one of the largest number of installations of industrial AM technology.
The company already holds sales and project management operations in Nagoya, Japan and many of its current customers are Japanese companies but FIT expects the subsidiary will serve as a direct interface for its Additive Design, and Manufacturing (ADM) services to new customers across the region. FIT has described the move as a logical step as it evolves “from a foreign contract manufacturer to an insider in the Japanese innovation system.”
The Group has appointed Mr Yasushi Murata to lead the business in Japan.
"When learning about FIT AG and its ADM concept for the first time, I was immediately intrigued by its potential", Murata commented. "I'm overjoyed to empower Japanese companies with FIT's expertise … I'm convinced that FIT AG can act as a game-changer for the Japanese productive industry of today."
FIT has more than 20 years of experience in AM and production processes and specialises in volume manufacturing using a range of in-house AM technologies. FIT’s service covers the entire AM process chain from design for AM and pre-production engineering, to post-processing finishing techniques and quality assurance options.
