Fuel3D, developer of the affordable, handheld Fuel3D scanner, has today announced the integration of leading 3D publishing platform, Sketchfab, into its 3D scanner software.
Used to view and edit scans taken by the device, the “publish to Sketchfab” functionality will now allow Fuel3D users to quickly and easily post scans from the device to the web.
“We are delighted that an exciting company like Fuel3D has chosen to include Sketchfab in its development of Fuel3D Studio, which is another step forward in 3D’s growth as a consumer market,” said Alban Denoyel, CEO, Sketchfab. “As more people get involved in creating 3D content, this increases the need for a platform that supports viewing and sharing of 3D models online, and Sketchfab is that platform!”
With its commercial launch expected in early 2015, the Fuel3D scanner is currently shipping to the company’s Kickstarter backers, who helped the start-up raise over $300,000 of funding last September.
Stuart Mead, CEO, Fuel3D, added: “We are committed to helping make the creation of unique 3D content something that anyone can do, and Sketchfab provides us with a way of allowing our users to easily share their 3D scans and models with the world. We are looking forward to seeing the results of our users’ experiences with our scanner and Sketchfab will be a great way to help them share those stories.”
Fuel3D will join the 3D Printing Marketplace in association with TCT Magazine + Personalize at the 2015 International CES in Las Vegas in January. Over 50 exhibitors will be at the Sands Expo on 6-9 January alongside a packed 3D Printing Conference line-up that sees eight world class speakers take to the stage to discuss 3D printing and its impact.
