An international leader in portable 3D measurement solutions and 3D engineering services has received plaudits for its new portable CMM.
Creaform has taken home two awards after its new HandyPROBE scooped the MPW Advanced Manufacturing Award 2014 at leading UK engineering show MACH 2014 and the Prix Du Copeau 2014 from French magazine Machines Production.
The HandyPROBE portable coordinate measuring machine (PCMM) has been developed to increase the reliability and speed of measurement processes. Thanks to the integrated TRUaccuracy technology, which includes such features as dynamic referencing, automatic drift detection and alignment, highly accurate measurements can be taken in any work environment, regardless of vibrations, instabilities and thermal variations. What's more, the HandyPROBE can enable users to achieve substantial gains in productivity and cost savings; measurement errors can be reduced by up to 75 per cent and a control time by a factor of 10.
The MWP Advanced Manufacturing Awards are a bi-annual event that is held in conjunction with the MACH exhibition in Birmingham. The awards celebrate the most innovative solutions available at MACH across a variety of sectors. Creaform's UK distributor Measurement Solutions Limited applied for the award with the HandyPROBE, highlighting the solution’s TRUaccuracy technology with dynamic referencing. The HandyPROBE won in the Quality Control Equipment category - against both Hexagon and Renishaw.
One week before, the HandyPROBE already won two prizes at the Prix du Copeau 2014, awarded by Machines Production during the Industrie Paris tradeshow. The Prix du Copeau honours suppliers' innovation in helping improve the competitiveness and quality control performance machining companies. Again, the HandyPROBE was recognised for its superior performance in quality control, winning second place in the general ranking and first place in the Quality Control Systems category. Selected by a jury composed exclusively of industrial machining, the winners were chosen from 25 exhibiting companies.
