Rings by Bert De Niel
Just in time for the festive season, i.materialise has released an exclusive line of five 3D new 3D printing material colours with a little added sparkle.
The colours are the latest version of i.materialise’s Alumide material which now comes in: Asphalt Black, Brick Red, Rusty Orange, Sparkly Blue and Moss Green. The colours have been achieved through a dyeing process similar to that of polyamide where the printed model is submerged into a colour pigment solution.
The texture of the surface finish means that no two designs will look exactly the same due to the random nature in which the Alumide particles are distributed. More intricate designs like wireframe models are not as suitable for printing in Dyed Alumide because the uneven surface can mean that some parts end up less vibrant than others.
The process requires two extra days for orders to be completed and is currently available to all new shop items with older products being updated soon.
Makers can order a sample kit of the new range from i.materialise in order to get a hands on feel for the material.
The colours will be of particular interest to jewellery designers to give their products that extra dazzle and add to the 90 possible colour and finish combinations currently on offer at i.materialise.
