Ring by Bert De Niel – Natural (unpolished) uncoated
i.materialse has enhanced its materials selection with an improved Bronze that offers three finishing options, reduced lead time and greater accuracy.
Ideal for jewellery and decorative pieces, bronze has been a key metal used in manufacturing for many years due to its affordability and strength.
The three new finishes include Natural (unpolished) Uncoated, Natural (unpolished) PU-Coated and Polished PU Coated each providing varying levels of antiquity and gloss. This improved Bronze has a much richer yellow tint when compared to i.materialise’s original material offering. It makes for effective antique styling on products due to its slightly mottled surface causing parts to appear aged.

What’s more the lead time is now only 15-18 days, significantly lower than the 20-25 days Bronze usually ships in. This was made possible with a 3D printing and lost-wax casting technique which is also used to 3D print Gold, Silver and Brass. This new method also makes it possible to 3D print smaller details with higher accuracy which will be a welcome development for designers working on intricate jewellery pieces.
Improved Bronze has the added benefit of increased maximum print dimensions making the material a good choice for printing large sculptures or bespoke jewellery. At 88 x 63 x 125 mm bronze can be printed with the same level of accuracy and scale as other popular materials Gold, Silver and Brass.
