E3D Online’s BigBox 3D printer has smashed its Kickstarter target ahead of the UK 3D printing company’s return to TCT Show next month.
With a target of just £30,000, the open source, large print volume desktop printer, sped past its funding goal in a mere four hours and has secured itself a total of over £262,000 to jump-start its production line.
The BigBox features a 17-litre build volume which has been balanced at each axis to enable true large-scale printing and high-volume printing for multiple objects. The printer benefits from the UK-made E3D-V6 hotend which allows users to print in almost every material on the market to make increase flexibility and future-proof the machine for later material developments. The machine can also be fitted with a range of E3D nozzle sizes to increase resolution and print speeds.
The modular printer is completely hackable so makers are free to modify and improve their machines with upgrades and interchangeable parts.
Additional features include a unique motion system experience which promises smoothness and accuracy and an InfraRed sensor which will automatically calibrate and level the print surface.
Various BigBox packages, including pre-built and kit versions, have been made available through the campaign starting at £455 but E3D says the price will increase to £600 when the BigBox eventually goes on general sale.
E3D will be at this year’s TCT Show + Personalize on 30th September – 1st October 2015 at the NEC, Birmingham. REGISTER FOR FREE and visit them at booth J41 to find out more.
