3D software developer Leopoly has launched a new set of tools for individuals and businesses to create 3D models in virtual reality (VR).
New app, ShapeLab allows users to start from scratch to create models in a VR environment using digital sculpting and painting tools. Models made in the lab are also optimised so they can be brought to life with 3D printing.
Roland Manyai CEO at Leopoly, explained: “Virtual Reality enables us to view, feel and experience places, items and products as if they were real. Where else could product customization add more value than in VR? There is no extra cost, only creativity sets the limit! VR needs more interaction, not only passive experiences. Content creation is one of the most exciting things about it.”
ShapeLab has been successfully Greenlit on the Steam platform and will be available for HTC users in the next few weeks. The current version features a single user experience with a limited number of features but new design tools and a co-creation experience are set to be made available soon.
Leopoly’s product customisation services are already present on various platforms, including the HP Sprout and zSpace. The company’s 3D software solutions are being used by major industry players such as Lowe’s, Bosch and HP and it also recently launched an educational product for the Chinese market to teach 3D creation skills to children. At TCT Show in September, Leopoly launched several new software solutions designed the customisation of lifestyle products, fashion, footwear and medical implants.
At the Frontier Tech Showdown in San Francisco this week, Leopoly is showcasing the ShapeLab application along with its business-orientated VR solutions designed for 3D printing, retail, health care, toy and interior design industries. Leopoly's industrial 3D solutions for VR are being offered to businesses as white label solutions. Some of the new products include a digital VR experience for shopping, enabling viewing and editing products in the VR space, the customisation of characters for games, and easy view and assembly of parts for various industries.
