Linear Mold & Engineering has expanded its fleet of 3D metal printers with two more systems. This brings the mould design, engineering and manufacturing company’s total to nine printers of this kind further extending its reach in the metal additive manufacturing industry.
The company has installed its third EOS M280 direct metal laser sintering system from EOS GmbH and a dual laser SLM280 from SLM solutions. The addition enhances Linear’s position in providing complete solutions for 3D metal printing end-use parts and mould components. The company now operates a total of four EOS M270 systems, three E0S M280 machines and two SLM 280 systems.
As the aerospace and automotive industry increases its demand for 3D printing metal parts, companies have evolved to provide better services for injection moulds, improved plastic part quality and lower costs to manufacture. 3D printing metals has been one of the key drivers for growth in the additive manufacturing industry and a recent report from Wohlers Associates showed that the market for metal based additive manufacturing machines grew by nearly 76% last year.
Linear Mold & Engineering has been at the forefront of these developments since 2005 with state of the art machinery and systems in both additive and subtractive manufacturing. They are one of the leading solutions providers to the automotive, medical and aerospace industries and by building up their machine portfolio look set for that to grow.
