LulzBot Dual Extruder
Open source hardware company LulzBot, has just unveiled two new products for the LulzBot TAZ 3D printer. The all-new Dual Extruder and FlexyDually Tool Heads give advanced users the ability to print in two colours of the same material, or two different types of material.
The Dual Extruder consists two of LulzBot's standard tool heads that can print in a wide range of materials including PLA, ABS, HIPS, PVA, LayBrick, LayWood, and heat up to 240 degrees. The FlexyDually features a standard tool head and a second Flexystruder tool head that allows users to print with flexible filaments like NinjaFlex.
"The LulzBot FlexyDually Tool Head has enabled me to solve some complicated mechanical problems using 3D printing and also develop some interesting creations,” said James Bruton, Founder of XRobots. “Fusing rubber-like and rigid plastic together opens up many possibilities for manufacturing compliant joints for robotics, prosthetics and prop building - it really pushes the envelope in 3D printing innovation.”

The new tool heads are both fully Open Source Hardware, so users can view the source files to make and share modifications and improvements.
Recommended for advanced users only, upgrading the software and hardware can require more technical capabilities. For owners of later versions of the LulzBot TAZ installing the tool heads only recquires a few short steps.
"We are proud to offer the new LulzBot Dual Extruder and FlexyDually Tool Heads that make the LulzBot TAZ more versatile than ever,” comments Jeff Moe, Founder and CEO of Aleph Objects, Inc. “These products are a direct result of collaboration within the thriving Open Source Hardware community, especially on the LulzBot Forum, and we can't wait to see what our users do with them."
