You may have seen our report last week on the pocket sized, Pocket 3D Printer claiming to be the smallest and most potable 3D printer out there aiming to be the first to make 3D printing on your way to work a reality. Well before that, there was the LumiFold from Lumi Industries, a foldable, portable 3D printer that works and raised 1000% of its modest Indiegogo target 12 months ago.
Now the Lumi has a new incarnation, the LumiPocket, penned as the smallest portable, high quality 3D printer yet.
The team behind the device say the project was a direct response to the interest received from the original LumiFold which revealed the popularity for an easy to use and portable 3D printing device. Lumi Industries are certain that anyone would be able to use their printer with some of the main suggestions for use focusing on the medical and dental fields and also home interiors.

LumiPocket is a compact DLP 3D printer with a build area of 10cm x 10cm and supports a variety of light cured resins. The printer prints at 3 seconds per 100 micron layer meaning that a 7cm tall object can be printed in an hour. It is simple to use with cross platform software and a library of ready to use 3D models for users less confident in 3D modelling. The printing vat doubles up as a resin container to combat the need for a special vat on traditional DLP printers that would need replacing often. It can even be set up to print up to three objects in three different vats using alternate colours and materials.
The projector is not included in the LumiPocket kit but the printer will work with just about any digital light projector from a list of tried and tested names and specs provided by Lumi Industries.
This latest campaign has a much higher target than the last with a goal of $50,000 to be achieved before 18th November. Original buyers of the LumiFold will get the LumiPocket for free if the target is reached but new adopters can pick up a printer for the early bird price of $379.
