3D printed optics from LUXeXceL
The world’s only 3D printing service for optical components, LUXeXceL, has today announced the introduction of an outdoor coating applied as a finishing process for their LUX Standard material products.
Headquartered in the Netherlands with a patented process called Printoptical technology, products are printed on demand for customers using an additive manufacturing process that jets individual droplets of UV-curable materials.
With this new outdoor coating, it makes it possible for the printed optical parts to be used in the outdoor environment providing protection against UV rays and rapid temperature change.
“We are very happy to open up our service to the outdoor markets,” said Richard van de Vrie, Founder and CEO of LUXeXceL. “3D printed optics are already being used for many indoor applications and our customers asked us to develop a process that allows them to benefit from our unique Printoptical Technology to create custom optical components for the outdoor markets as well. So that’s what we did and we are already seeing some great new products coming out of our printers”.
LUXeXceL provides customised optical solutions in just 10 days and are guaranteed to last three years. This particular development will be useful in customers seeking applications in the solar energy and outdoor lighting market.
