Improved casting resin formula designed for consumer-grade machines.
California based advanced materials company MadeSolid has introduced a new resin, which they’re boldly calling ‘the next generation’ in clean burn casting resins.
CastSolid takes the place of FireCast in the company’s 3D printing materials range as the go-to resin for small to medium customers seeking simple, ash-free investment casting for use on a wide range of SLA and DLP 3D printers including the Form1, Spark, LittleRP, B9 Creator and Asiga.
The new formula comes with improved detail and reliability from 25 µm to 100 µm. Shrinking is kept to a minimum from printing and post-curing until burnout and there is minimal thermal expansion during the heating phase.
Boasting a clean workflow, the company claims the resin is formulated to ensure prints burn out with little to no ash. In addition, when compared with similar resins, CastSolid features a less viscous consistency meaning it is easier to handle and clean from vats and prints.
The material can be burned out with most jewellers’ current heat schedules but is optimised for formulation with Kerr Satin Cast 20 and Kerr’s schedule.
Building on the success of FireCast resin released last July, the aim of this new formula is to fill the gap in consumer based casting resins to give jewellers and small-run metal manufacturers the opportunity to cast in an affordable way.
Prices start at $89 for a 250ml bottle and are available from madesolid.com
