MakerBot Replicator product line heads to Australia.
MakerBot is making its mark in Australia by adding Alloys as a distributor of its desktop 3D printing and scanning products in a bid to expand its international footprint.
With over 30 years in the technology distribution market, MakerBot believes the partnership will introduce more educators, professionals and consumers throughout the country to the possibilities of 3D printing.
Alloys will distribute MakerBot’s range of Replicator 3D printers along with the MakerBot Digitizer Desktop 3D scanner, PLA and ABS Filaments and 3D printing accessories.
"We believe that with a network of more than 1,000 resellers and four showrooms in major cities throughout Australia, Alloys will help us expand our business in Australia," explained Mark Schulze, general manager of the Americas and Emerging Markets for MakerBot. "This approach is exactly the kind of mindset we were looking for to help us make further headway into the Australian market."

MakerBot already has a growing user base in Australia including Melbourne-based design firm Chijoff+Co, who recently 3D printed 80 prototypes of a new product before producing a final prototype in a high-tech polymer. Founder Michael Chijoff said that having access to 3D printing saved the firm approximately 3 months in the design process and close to $10,000 in prototyping costs.
Alloys will host MakerBot 3D Ecosystem showcases throughout this month with product demos and networking opportunities at its showrooms in Melbourne (March 5), Brisbane (March 10), Sydney (March 12) and Adelaide (March 19).
