Materialise, has announced a partnership with Luxexcel; a fast-expanding Dutch start-up company who specialise in customised 3D printed optics. Utilising the Belgian 3D printing company's more than 25 years of 3D printing experience in a range of software solutions and 3D printing services, the collaboration will see the development of a Build Processor to meet Luxexcel’s requirements for its unique in-house additive manufacturing process.
Materialise Magics 3D Print suite was recently introduced at RAPID, integrating all its industrial software solutions into one. The Build Processor is a technology housed within Materialise Magics 3D Print suite that nurtures communication between the 3D printing machines and software. Together, the companies are working on an image-based, machine-specific Build Processor for Luxexcel to ensure the quality of optical parts and enable specific control over 3D prints.
Operating within the optical industry means that it is essential for Luxexcel to avoid visible printing layers. To combat this, Luxexcel have developed an exclusive digital Additive Manufacturing technology that disregards post-processing.
Hans Streng CEO of Luxexcel, states: “Materialise software helps us to support our 3D printing technology for optical products. By implementing the Build Processor we will get a tailored solution which supports seamless communication between software and our 3D printer for our prototyping business. It contributes to the growth of our 3D printing service and supports new technological developments.”
Luxexcel and Materialise have previously collaborated to create a fully automated online ordering process that is streamlined entirely with 3D printing production and look forward to releasing the Build Processor.
