Supplier of machine tools for industry and rapid prototyping pioneer Multistation SAS has three exciting new announcements for EuroMold.
The company has been delivering a large number of machines for numerous applications since 1992 and at EuroMold 2014, Multistation will be showcasing more than 10 machines demonstrating digital manufacturing technologies for industry.
Founded by Yannick Loisance in 1987, Paris-based Multistation provides innovative and disruptive solutions in the field of digital manufacturing; heavy and complex machine-tools, automated composites processing machines, additive manufacturing for the automotive, aeronautics, railway, education, luxury and medical sectors. In terms of rapid prototyping, Multistation is the exclusive reseller of companies such as SolidScape, Arcam, SLM Solutions, David Scanners and others which are on display at the Montparnasse Proto3DShop.
Multistation has three new exciting announcements up its sleeve to bring the company into the New Year and it is launching them at EuroMold:
- Fab Lab turnkey supply
- Lattice Engineering in additive design and metal manufacturing
- An extension of the Multistation Second Life activity to second-hand 3D printers
Fab Lab turnkey supply
The need for Fab Labs - the name given for design and manufacturing workshops that use different materials and digital tools - are growing exponentially. A Fab Lab is a dedicated space where a concepts can be tested and materialised. They can only arise as the result of a global strategy, which is why Multistation offers optimised turnkey solutions integrating different parameters such as product obsolescence, maintainability, tutorial needs and suppliers' profiles.
Lattice Engineering in additive design and metal manufacturing
Metal additive manufacturing is a major issue for the rapid prototyping sphere, with applications offering very high-added value in the aeronautics, medical, automotive fields. Designing parts in a different way and integrating at the design stage specifications of additive manufacturing, while focusing on parts we do not yet know how to manufacture with traditional means are now key priorities (parts with architectural structures, honeycomb or hollow parts, etc.). This new approach, subject to compromises between design and calculation of topological structures and manufacturing options, is called lattice engineering and will permanently impact PLM activities.
An extension of the Multistation Second Life scheme
Like any technology entering the next phase, a second-hand market has developed around rapid prototyping. Since 2002, Multistation has established a marketplace on its website www.multistation.com for international purchase and resale of second-hand rapid prototyping machines. Increase of supply entails a potential rapid obsolescence of 3D printers and users wishing to resell their machines can trust the company's team at the Paris Montparnasse PROTO3DSHOP if they wish to secure rapid remarketing.
