Polyga, a developer of 3D scanning and mesh processing technologies, has introduced the new HDI Compact 3D scanners, said to deliver high-quality scans within a fraction of a second.
The HDI Compact series consists of three models, which each boast 1, 2, and 5 megapixel dual camera systems for different scanning volumes. They use blue LED structured-light technology and are supported by Polyga’s FlexScan3D software. Operators can completely automate the 3D scanning workflow by using a HDI Compact scanner with a rotary turntable, making easier the scanning of physical objects, or use them as standalone desktop systems.
FlexScan3D processes the scan data as it is captured, with built-in aligning, merging, and hole filling capabilities. Scan data can then be converted into digital 3D models for use in 3D visualisation, reverse engineering, and quality inspection applications.
“We found there is a strong demand for a solution that has the ease of use of a consumer-grade 3D scanner but the output of a professional 3D scanning system – in terms of capturing high resolution 3D scans at sub-micron accuracy,” said Thomas Tong, president of Polyga. “The HDI Compact 3D scanners cover all these bases. They are plug and play systems, ready to use right out of the box within minutes of setup. Install the included proprietary 3D scanning software, FlexScan3D, to your computer and you are ready for scanning.”
In addition to the HDI Compact 3D scanners, Polyga has also released a new version of its FlexScan3D software to support LMI Technologies’ Gocator 3000 series of 3D smart sensors. These snapshot sensors, which can achieve 100% in-line inspection for factory automation at production speed, can now capture 3D scans to create fully digital 3D models of parts for off-line analysis. It comes after Polyga and LMI Technologies partnered last summer.
