Capitol Hill
The third incarnation of an innovative 3D printing event will be coming to Capitol Hill, Washington DC, in May.
The annual 3D/DC event run by Public Knowledge, a group that promotes and protects the rights of consumer access to technology, brings 3D printing to the doorstep of America's decision-makers, with last year's gathering seeing members of Congress, Congressional staff and members of the public file through the doors to see what some two dozen exhibitors had in store.
This year, Public Knowledge anticipates even more 3D printing industry participants across the industry's diverse spectrum ranging from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar giants, while attendees will get the opportunity to quiz exhibitors and see the technology first hand.
Public Knowledge held its first 3D/DC event in 2011 and the outing has been growing ever since. Open to the public, the reception will be held in the Capitol Visitors' Center.
"3D/DC is one of the ways the Public Knowledge brings the concerns and questions regarding emerging technologies to Capitol Hill. As 3D printing becomes more mainstream it's important that members of Congress see it as a general purpose technology that could be used to enhance the lives of millions of people," Martyn Griffen, Government Affairs Associate at Public Knowledge, stated.
