Diamond Hotend delivers multi-colour 3D printing.
Copenhagen-based technology start-up RepRap ApS – or RepRap.me – has introduced a new 3D printer peripheral on Kickstarter that enables simple 3D printing with three different colours or materials.
Diamond Hotend is a single nozzle that requires no calibration and is set to bring multi colour, multi material 3D printing to the desktop market.
Inspired to develop a solution for the limitations of traditional regular single nozzle multi colour 3D printing, the RepRap.me team set out to develop an attachment that would simplify colour changes and reduce time taken in the process.
Though dual-hotend solutions are faster and offer better control but entail a different set of problems such as alignment and collaboration which if done incorrectly, can damage your print.
The Diamond Hotend offers several unique benefits including easy calibration, better precision, colour blending and minimal filament waste.
Diamond Hotend feeds three colours through one nozzle.
RepRap.me, CEO Kenneth Weiss commented: "We are excited to present the Diamond Hotend to the 3D printing community through our campaign on Kickstarter and we hope that the community will collaborate with us to make the product even better. This has truly been a work of passion for us and we hope that our backers will share our passion.”
After six months in development, building and testing multiple generations of the tool, the Diamond Hotend is now ready and looking for support from the 3D printing community on Kickstarter to see it through to full production.
With a delivery date penned for June and around 225,000 DKK already pledged on Kickstarter - 75,000 DKK above target - the Diamond Hotend is already looking set for major success but there’s still time to support the campaign and secure one of your own.
With 23 days to go, backers can support the campaign and get themselves a Diamond Hotend for DKK 1,260.
