Leading manufacturer of high precision 3D wax printers for the jewellery industry, Solidscape has just revealed the winners of the fourth annual Baselworld Design Competition.
The winning designs were featured on Solidscape’s booth at the Baselworld exhibit last week which the company uses every year as its platform for designers to showcase their work.
Design entries were judged based on successful wax modelling printed by a Solidscape 3D printer, best design, as well as the best use of 3D technology in two categories, Jewellery and Fine Art.
Taking home the Platinum Award for jewellery for the third year in a row was the OG-Art Studio team from Bialystok, Poland for a Dragon Pendant featuring complex geometry requiring the highest precision in 3D printing and casting excellence.
The Gold Award was awarded to Mr. Hiroaki Watanabe of Japan for a Chrysanthemum-inspired brooch which symbolically represents a long and peaceful life.

Tied for the Silver Award for jewellery was the Firebird Pendant by Sri Lanka’s W.A Chamal S Jayaratna and the whimsical Mermaid ring from the House of Wittelsbach in the United States.
In the Fine Art category, the Platinum Award went to German Oliver Borgardts of Higher Lyrics Art for a detailed Violin figurine.
Bagging a second award but this time in the Fine Art section, Mr. Hiroaki Watanabe won a Gold Award for the “Cassoulet with Phoenix” design, an incense box designed to create a peaceful atmosphere.
Finally, the Silver Award for fine art was awarded for a finely detailed Ballerina figurine from Meenakshi Rawa of India. Her delicate interpretation of the tiny dancer could only be realised by the combination of brilliant CAD design and high precision 3D printing.
