SOLIDWORKS 2018 welcome screen
Dassault Systèmes has announced the launch of SOLIDWORKS 2018, featuring an integrated, end-to-end solution for the design to manufacturing process geared to simplify the product development cycle for businesses of any size.
Powered by Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the latest release of the 3D design and engineering applications portfolio leverages smart manufacturing to simply interactions for teams across the product development workflow.
Dassault Systèmes highlights four key areas:
Design to manufacture - SOLIDWORKS Design-to-Manufacturing Process Solution allows design to final assembly work to happen concurrently in one integrated and managed system.
Distributed data management - SOLIDWORKS Distributed Data Management (DDM) Process Solution can organise all this data so it is easy to access across many disciplines and departments.
Designer to analyst - SOLIDWORKS Designer to Analyst Process Solution speeds up the complete design cycle by evolving product designs while validating any changes, and reusing previous analysis information.
Electrical and IOT - A single unified environment to build smart, connected products
With SOLIDWORKS 2018, Dassault Systèmes says it is helping teams to quickly and cost-efficiently design a product or part, validate its function and manufacturability, manage data and related processes, streamline and automate manufacturing, and inspect, to keep up with the fast-paced nature of today’s competitive marketplace.

Designers and engineers are also being given a greater understanding of how their designs are manufactured with a new application, SOLIDWORKS CAM, that provides rules-based machining with knowledge capture to allow for the automation of manufacturing programming. This application also enables teams to execute new “build to order” strategies with custom parts that are automatically designed and programmed in seconds.
“A successful consumer experience must have a well-designed product at its core and an efficient way to produce it. SOLIDWORKS 2018 brings more than just a smarter approach to manufacturing parts or products, it helps businesses translate imagination into innovation and build ecosystems,” Gian Paolo Bassi, CEO, SOLIDWORKS, Dassault Systèmes explained. “As with past releases, many of SOLIDWORKS 2018’s new tools and enhancements respond to the SOLIDWORKS community’s insight and feedback, equipping them with more power and capabilities to bring great designs to manufacturing faster, with higher quality and at lower costs. Over the next few months, we will roll out additional end-to-end process solutions aimed to help the community further improve its business outcomes.”
