Star Prototype Apppoint Dave Moir
Star Prototype, the British-owned China-based rapid prototyping house, has appointed Dave Moir as its UK project manager.
Moir, who has a rich pedigree in new product design, tool making and sales having worked for Omega Plastics, Thermodynamix, Nusurgix and others during his 17-year career, has been charged with delivering significant growth in UK project work for STAR.
Gordon Styles, managing director of STAR, said: “In the seven years since I founded STAR it has developed as a Chinese business with a global client base and a growing reputation. The next aim is to grow into a truly global operation and with this in mind we have recruited project managers who will work in specific key markets — amongst them the US, Spain and, of course, the UK.
“Dave Moir was exactly the kind of person I was looking for when I began planning this latest stage in the company’s development. He has the kind of technical expertise needed to talk confidently about even the most complex of jobs, and the local contacts needed to make an immediate impact on the market. I’m absolutely confident he will quickly help to establish STAR in the UK.”
Star Prototype, which is based in Zhongshan, has a service that covers everything from Stereolithography (SLA) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) to CNC machining, vacuum casting and rapid tooling for injection moulding.
Dave Moir added: “The task of selling of a Chinese business to UK manufacturers initially seemed daunting, but I’ve already found that the technical expertise of STAR combined with the reputation Gordon Styles enjoys in the UK rapid prototyping industry is enough to open a lot of doors.”
