Joseph Guo speaks to TCT in Shanghai.
TCT caught up with one of Asia’s leading 3D printing innovators Beijing Tiertime Technology at TCT Asia’s debut in Shanghai. Showcasing its flagship UP BOX 3D printer which could be spotted all over the show - in particular at the now famous Xuberance stand, home of the 3D printed wedding dress - Tiertime's Joseph Guo talked about the promise of desktop technology and why developments in China’s growing 3D printing industry are good news for us all.
Hi Joseph. Tell us why are you here at TCT Asia? What is Tiertime exhibiting?
We have been working with TCT for a long time. It is the right time for TCT to get into China and we are very happy to work with TCT Show. We are showing our new UP BOX 3D printer. We have received a very good response from the market for its elegant design, large print bed and accuracy. We are very proud of it and hope the market will be good for it and would like to see more people using it.
Tiertime has been in the industry for a long time – what is the company’s position in the 3D printing market?
We have been making 3D printers for a long time and our products are based on an internal development team. Our product offers a very good user experience and we have a huge user base across the world. Our goal is to make better 3D printers and provide a better user experience.
All eyes are on Asia's burgeoning 3D printing market with some global company's claiming it is already their biggest market. What are your thoughts on the growth of the 3D printing market in the region?
The Asian market is growing very fast. Economy wise, 3D printing acceptance wise. It has been crazy because you see the people, the crowd over the last few days (at TCT Asia) has been overwhelming. People want to know about 3D printers. They want to know what they can do with 3D printers. They are crazy about it. From the government point of view, China just announced a new policy to support the 3D printing industry and it is good news for the whole industry and all of these different sectors to start to think how to use 3D printers in their work and their every day lives. It’s good news for us, for all of us.
What is the focus for Tiertime for the year ahead? Any new developments?
We will have better, newer 3D printers and provide an ecosystem for everybody to better use our 3D printer. We will focus on consumer products to help everyday people, in their everyday lives.
So you believe the consumer 3D printing side is really going to take off?
Everybody is trying to solve that issue and answer that question. We hope in the next two or three years the real consumer market can take off.
