The artwork TOTR has been chosen by TCT Magazine to be exhibited at NEC because it shows yet more possibilities of 3D printing. Art deco objects are amongst the most elegant in the world and this can be seen in the TOTR art works. Because it is made by innovative twenty first century processes in the West Midlands, it is therefore truly unique.
The Tea or coffee pot: Its shape has been created and resonates with triangles and multiples of three, and all that signifies. With the surface pattern design it celebrates three. The grouping of triangles are in three. In total there are twenty seven triangles in the pattern, this is as well triangular body shape, there is triangular handle, triangular spout and triangular pyramid lid. The only exception of all the design that is not straight lines, is three circular recesses on the lid.
There are three cups and saucers. Where the theme of three also reoccurs, in surface pattern handle body shape, and design.
By using the digital skills of Christopher Dean, who works for Freeform studios Robert Cochrane was able to take his design to Stephanie Wood Design at the Hothouse Stoke on Trent who used an Objet Alaris printer to made the TOTR in Vero white Plus acrylic plastic.

Robert Cochrane was given the vision of using it on TOTR by visiting a previous TCT show. The Objet parts were chemically cleaned and scrubbed to remove any support material residue. They were then hand finished to 600 grit wet 'n' dry, to remove all the Objet build lines.
Using the 3DDC proprietary Metalise process the parts are made conductive using a 4 stage chemical process, and then they are electro-plated with a layer of copper. The copper was then hand finished and polished to a high gloss finish. The parts were then finished off with an electro-plated layer of Sterling Silver.
