Application spotlight: 3D printed upper limb prosthetics proving to be 'better in every single way'

Atlantic Clinic for Upper Limb Prosthetics harnesses Multi Jet Fusion & Vapour Smoothing technology for customised prosthetic devices.

Application spotlight: 3D printed upper limb prosthetics proving to be 'better in every single way'

Prosthetics have long been suitable for additive manufacturing due to the technology's ability to yield customised and personalised solutions.

For replacement limbs to work at maximum effectiveness, they need to be patient-specific, and since the engineers involved in developing the prosthetics are able, they may as well get creative with the look of these devices too.

When the Atlantic Clinic for Upper Limb Prosthetics was looking to stand up an additive manufacturing workflow for the development and production of such solutions, it was guided by DesignFusion to adopt Multi Jet Fusion and Vapour Smoothing technology from HP and AMT, respectively.

The results have been significant.
