At this year's TCT Show, Samira Gruber, Researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS, took to the Main Stage to give an overview of the different metal additive manufacturing (AM) technologies at the Fraunhofer’s Center of Additive Manufacturing in Dresden and compared the capabilities and limitations concerning material, part size, geometry and costs.
Selecting the right additive manufacturing process for your particular application, be it a medical implant or aerospace component, is crucial to ensuring you get the outcome you desire. As Samira describes in her presentation, your chosen process and design, should always consider what you want that particular part to achieve or the application it serves.
