CurifyLabs has announced a new veterinary excipient system that enables 3D printed, palatable, and personalised medicines for pets.
Curablend Vet has been built for use with the CurifyLabs Compounding System Solution and is said to bring a 'new level of quality, safety and predictability' to veterinary drug compounding.
CurifyLabs has launched the Curablend Vet solution in response to veterinarians often lacking dosage-specific medicines. This typically forces pharmacists to manually manipulate human drug products or prepare ad-hoc formulations, which can be labour-intensive and introduce variability.
The company says that its standardised, automated, and digitally documented 3D printing workflow will also yield a solution for pet owners facing challenges in administering medicine to their pets. Curablend Vet is said to deliver a flavoured and chewable gel tablet that is designed to look and feel like. a treat. In a study with 31 dogs and 38 cats, the flavoured Curablend Vet tablets were voluntarily consumed by a large majority of animals, whereas unflavored tablets were frequently rejected.
