CBM is a commercially focused advanced research, product development, and batch manufacturing facility. Our unique offering is delivered via an experienced development team, utilising state-of-the-art technology platforms which include 3D printing, 3D scanning, and low volume manufacturing.
We support commercial innovation across a wide range of disciplines and industry sectors including aerospace, automotive, medical and veterinary.
3D printing and scanning
CBM’s CAD software, 3D printing and optical 3D scanning technologies provide the most advanced manufacturing techniques available.
Our inhouse workshops encompass leading technology platforms to enable the rapid production of accurate, cost effective, prototype and low volume components in a variety of polymers and metals. CBM’s stringent ISO9001:2015 and ISO13485:2016 quality management processes and procedures ensure our outputs are of the highest possible standard.
Prototype and production
CBM’s low volume production process (vacuum casting) can produce small batches of injection moulded quality components in a comprehensive range of materials that offer properties which mimic engineering plastics.
We utilise in-house professional additive manufacturing processes to produce accurate, high definition master patterns, expertly finished to your exact production specifications.
We can produce a variety of surface finishes from highly polished surfaces to VDI spark finishes and custom textures.
New product development
Our experience in industrial design, mechanical engineering, prototyping, and production implementation ensures CBM offers a complete product development service.
Early stages of the design process focus on planning, research and generating concepts that explore aesthetic and user requirements. These concepts are further refined before being fully engineered for manufacture.
Once the design is complete, we produce component control documentation and drawings for production, if required, we can manage the implementation of your product through to full manufacture.
Bespoke medical devices
Our medical team brings experience across a wide range of sectors within the medical, healthcare and veterinary industry.
Medical imaging techniques are used to acquire 3D computer models of anatomical structures. Specialist software is then used to manipulate the anatomical structures, undertake virtual surgical operations and design custom-fitting devices, such as surgical guides, implants and custom designed products that fit accurately with the desired anatomy.
CBM offers three medically approved materials; an ISO 10993 certified polymer (biocompatibility, cytotoxicity, sensitization and irritation tested), a USP Class VI certified polymer and a USP Class VI Ti6Al4V implantable metal.
