Polygonica has a wide range of applications, particularly in the fast-growing fields of additive manufacturing and 3D printing, where there is a requirement to solve complex polygon modeling problems when handling defective models with vast numbers of polygons. However it also applies to industries such as CAD/CAM/CAE, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering, 3D movies and gaming, geo-exploring, urban modeling and other 3D digital applications.
Built on MachineWorks' core technology for material removal and machine simulation, Polygonica unique polygonal modeling technology, takes its advantage from years of development and successful implementation in the CNC industry.
One of the most significant elements of Polygonica functionality is the automatic solid healing algorithm, which allows solids with gaps to be closed and self-intersections to be fixed without the need for manual intervention. Another important element of Polygonica is the Boolean engine, which has been tested and improved over more than 18 years of industrial use. Other algorithms in Polygonica allow offsetting, solid simplification, slicing, sectioning and spun profile calculation.
