Polymaker has launched the HT-PLA Pro, a heat-stable PLA material that has been engineered for impact in elevated temperatures.

HT-PLA Pro has been developed to address the ‘key limitations of conventional high-temperature PLA,’ such as brittleness and lower layer adhesion. It has been designed for the 3D printing of functional parts and combines two of Polymaker’s flagship technologies: nano reinforcement and heat stability.

Compared with regular HT-PLA, the Polymaker filament is said to offer more than twice the notched Charpy impact strength 9.94 kJ/m2 versus 4.94 kJ/m2 and approximately 30% stronger layer adhesion, with Z-tensile strength increasing from 20.8 MPa to 26.8MPa.

The material maintains the heat performance expected from the HT-PLA family. Its Vicat softening temperature is 148.3°C as printed and 150.5°C after annealing, measured in accordance with ISO 306. After a 30-minute anneal at 100°C, HT-PLA Pro achieves a heat deflection temperature of 107.6°C at 0.45 MPa, measured to ISO 75.

Designed for broad accessibility, HT-PLA Pro prints on standard FDM printers without an enclosure or hardened nozzle. It is validated for print speeds up to 300 mm/s and uses familiar PLA-style settings, including a 230°C nozzle temperature and 25-65°C build plate temperature.
