The supplier had been working with GE Aerospace for more than 20 years when the development of a novel additive manufacturing (AM) application commenced.
It was new territory for this particular collaboration and, considering this programme aimed to leverage AM as the production tool, things were moving quickly. A 3D printing technology was selected, a material too, and the design was moving through several iteration cycles. As the application moved up the technology readiness scale, commercialisation appeared viable and GE Aerospace swiftly acquired its long-time supplier.
