Rendered View showing the whole Pop-Up Store - Mamou-Mani
Fashion will demonstrate the future of 3D printing in the industry when a 3D printing pop up store sets up shop at Xintiandi Style, a fashion and art shopping centre for Shanghai Fashion Week.
The temporary space designed in collaboration with Arthur Mamou-Mani, Andrei Jipa, Stephany Xu and GreenCity will be on show from 25th September to the 12th October 2014 to showcase 3D printing's inspiring ability to create beautiful structural forms.
Based on the geometry of a the sine curve, the space will be constructed from two hundred 3D printed modules showing various levels of opacity to create a forest of glowing lace like structures.
Using 3D technology from Hypecask, the printers will be put to work for an entire month printing the modules from bio-plastic Voltivo material and will continue to print during the exhibition to give visitors live demonstrations
Visitors will also get the chance to wear some of the 3D printed dresses, shoes and accessories, which will be on display during its stay.
Part of the project will include a series of 3D printing workshops for children, novices and designers alike. The tutorials will include demonstrations on printing fashion accessories, customising 3D files and hands on interaction with ever popular 3D printing pens.
In addition to this, one hundred names from a charity contest held earlier this month will be printed on to the components of the store pavilion. Events can be followed on Twitter via the hashtag #3DPrintXTD.
