Addition of BASF to MatterHackers' materials catalogue will open up industrial applications across various manufacturing sectors.
California-based desktop 3D printing specialist, MatterHackers announced a number of partnerships with leading global chemical companies, BASF, DuPont, DSM, Dow and FiberForce, at RAPID + TCT last week.
The company, which currently houses more than 70 printer models and 1,000 materials at its Orange County facility, says the new materials will deliver advanced solutions for prototyping, production, and manufacturing workflows through its distribution model in the U.S.
The addition of BASF to MatterHackers' materials catalogue is set to open up industrial applications for desktop 3D printing across automotive, aerospace, medical, oil and gas, and construction fields, while filaments from DuPont, Dow, DSM and FiberForce round-out a portfolio of industrial materials which already includes PPGF (glass fibre polypropylene), PAHT CF (carbon-fibre nylon), PET, ABS Fusion+, NylonG (glass fibre nylon), PEEK, PEI, Hytrel, Zytel, and more.
“We are excited to bring more advanced materials partners into the MatterHackers portfolio of engineering plastics,” says Kevin Pope, Chief Operating Officer of MatterHackers. “With these new companies as allies in providing advanced materials to the American market, we have a catalog that can supply virtually every need for industrial prototyping and production needs on any level.”
MatterHackers has also launched a Pantone Matching System in partnership with FiberForce which will enable customers to select from industry-accurate colours based on the Pantone colour chart. More than 60 Pantone Certified PLA filaments are now available through MatterHackers' online store which the company believes will be particularly beneficial to professionals in areas such as product design, apparel and architecture.
“In addition to having the right materials for professional applications, MatterHackers also provides the right desktop 3D printers for those materials, including machines from leading manufacturers like BCN3D Technologies, Ultimaker, Intamsys, MakerGear, Kodak, and more,” said Mara Hitner, Director of Business Development. “MatterHackers is a trusted resource for desktop digital fabrication. We have built our reputation by collaborating with businesses that have needed an efficient fleet of machines tuned for repeatability with specific materials, in addition to fulfilling the need for single machines that can print them all.”
