3D Systems have announced a collaboration with innovative fashion brand United Nude to debut a new line of 3D printed shoes in New York.
United Nude launched their first in store installation in London’s Regent Street and have moved to several locations across the glove but this will be their first venture bringing their unique 3D fashion retail experience to the United States.
The ‘Float’ shoes, which are 3D printed fully wearable shoes, will be debut at United Nude’s flagship retail installation in Soho, Manhattan.
The installation will feature in-store manufacturing and will have a continuous display of shoe printing on show in the store window.
United Nude founder, Rem D Koolhaas, said: “After pioneering wearable, 3D printed shows using a state of the art Selective Laser Sintering 3D printer, we are thrilled to deliver fully functional, 3D printed shoes designed for an affordable home desktop printer.”
The shoes have been designed for simple home-printing using 3D Systems new Cube 3 desktop 3D printer. At $999, it is one of the most affordable home printers with dual material, plug and play capabilities. The printer allows users to create fashion and décor items using fairly affordable materials.
The Float Shoe is available to purchase from the New York store and also through United Nude’s online store.
Koolhaas, added, “This design is about creating something beautiful and interesting; it’s about experimenting, moving forward and learning along the way.”
