Wave
Perusing Shapeways shops is always a joy, you’ll find all manner of über imaginative objects, previously not possible to manufacture as one piece. Take one look at their recent blog on 10 Extraordinary Things You Won’t Belive Are 3D Printed to see the creative juices oozing out of countless designers, liberated by the technology.
One particular 3D printed design that has caught the eye of many recently is this amazing siphon by Egant – the designer behind the excellent gardening utensils Sprout and Aqueduct.
‘Wave’ is a toy that uses the physics of a siphon to transfer liquid from one receptacle to another without the use of a pump. The 3D printed part takes liquid from a higher volume and places it in the lower volume container.
The video shows how Egant works and it is pretty ingenious but we expect nothing less from this designer who is now producing exceptional designs on pretty consistent basis.
It goes without saying that this is just a toy though, just a novelty piece so don't go attempting to siphon petrol from your nextdoor neighbours fully filled car with it. It is available in Strong & Flexible Plastic at a price of $12.
