Cube wins award
What have MacBook Air, HTC One, PS4, LG Ultra HD TV, iPad Mini, Sony Alpha Camera, Nvidia Shield and a 3D Systems Cube got in common? Yes, that reads like the Christmas list of a 21st century Richie Rich but they were also all up for nomination at the GITEX Hot Stuff Gadget Awards, powered by Stuff.
You’ll never guess out of all of that brand new, bleeding-edge technology what won? Well, seeing as you’re on a 3D printing website you probably could guess. The 3D Systems Cube won the inaugural award, which aimed at celebrating the most desirable, most exciting and most innovative products currently or soon to be available in the Middle Easy and North Africa.
With the likes of Stuff’s Middle Eastern Editor Thomas Shambler and Najeeb Jarrar, of Google MENA, this was no easy award to win either. The decision was reached as visitors to the GITEX conference in Dubai cast their votes alongside sad judges.
The Cube, which was brought along by 3D Systems MENA reseller Pro Techologies, was said by Stuff to “stand for a new breed of home-friendly 3D printers, capable of making everything from plastic guns and iPad stands, to washing machine parts and pen-holders. And this is just the beginning, like the early dot matrix printers of old 3D printing will only get better, faster and cheaper – capable of producing shoes, human organs and even bases on the moon.”
Judging by the picture too that’s a first gen cube (newer generations have a glass build plate) imagine if it was a new one!
