Days after the launch of its A.T.L.A.S platform, GE Additive has made a second announcement from formnext powered by TCT: the takeover of simulation software developer, GeonX.
Terms of the deal have not been closed, but GE Additive has outlined GeonX’s cooperation will help to strengthen the company’s software simulation capabilities.
GeonX, headquartered in Belgium, provides software solutions for engineers developing new products. The company allows its customers to simulate additive manufacturing, welding, machining and heat treatment processes, and are said to be suitable for the aerospace, automotive and energy industries.
The Virfac simulation software tool, developed by GeonX, assesses products prior to production: predicting defects, distortions and stresses, as well as the manufacturing process will have on the product’s durability. It helps companies reduce the number of prototypes required during the development phases, and is also said to improve the quality and lifetime of the manufactured products. Users have managed to minimise time-to-market and development costs, and it is why GE Additive has sought to acquire the company behind the Virfac platform.
