How Bentley use 3D Printing
Bentley is synonymous with quality - the name conjures up a benchmark of success and can often be used in language as an adjective to describe something that is great. The VW owned company are the celebrity and sports star's car of choice, the Chinese market have gone wild for the cars made in Crewe, UK.
One of the most important factors in the car’s popularity is the design; classic but modern. Bentley Motors go over every aspect of the car in painstaking detail and 3D printing has helped them speed that process up.
In this Stratasys case study video, members of the design team show us how they use their Objet500 Connex machines to create scaled, multi-material models in hours rather than weeks.
The team at Bentley use the machine to create everything from exterior parts like wheel rims and tail pipe trims to interior design pieces like door handles and gear sticks. With their latest machine the team can even scale up to a full sized model of the car.
“We can simulate what a car is actually going to look like and show our bosses absolute reality.” – Kevin Baker, Design Model Manager.
