Inside 3D Printing
It’s now only one week until the Inside 3D Printing wagon rolls into New York for the second time, building on a successful inaugural in 2013.
TCT was able to make a flying visit to the 2013 event, grabbing a couple of hours on the show floor and taking in a couple of excellent presentations. This year we have more time — just as well, because there is plenty to see!
For starters the Maker Summit & Pavillion will run in NYC for the first time, featuring WhiteClouds, Formlabs and 3D Monstr amongst many others. The importance of the ‘maker’ community to the wider industrial 3D printing sphere has been stated repeatedly, including by Ed Morris, Director or AmericaMakes. Bringing both communities together provides an excellent platform for innovation, with industrial users able to learn from the less inhibited makers and vice versa.
The Maker Summit brings together thought leaders from the space, including Max Lobovsky of Formlabs, Duann Scott of Shapeways and Joris Debo of i.materialise to discuss topics ranging from Kickstarter, 3D printing applications and future outlooks. The Maker Summit is a rare opportunity to see these leaders together, and reinforces Inside 3D Printing NYC as the region’s leading 3D printing event.
On the main show floor 3D Systems, Stratasys and Mcor will return for the second year — word to the wise: get to the stands early, last year the queues were five deep once the conference session stopped for a break! Smaller companies will also be well represented, including Afinia, LulzBot and botObjects demonstrating their wares.
Whatever your focus and budget, be it for business or pleasure, Inside 3D Printing has upped its game for 2014 to retain it’s place as the only 3D printing event you need to put in your diaries for the Big Apple.
