Kwambio will launch in October offering simple, customisable products.
A new platform for creating customised 3D printed products is set to launch next month. Kwambio, a portal which allows consumers customise products for home printing, previewed in the UK last week and is currently undergoing negotiations for designer partnerships.
Kwambio, a New York based company, gives users the opportunity to choose a product and customise with a few clicks of a button, then print it at home. Initially the service will be free to users but in the future, customers will be asked to pay a small fee for each print.
Customers can customise the colour, shape, size and pattern of the objects on the store and even add unique text for personalisation.
Volodymyr Usov, CEO at Kwambio, said: "At the moment we have a working prototype, a platform where you can create things to print them at home. We hope to release Kwambio as soon as possible. What I have to admit is that designers are thrilled with the way our platform works."
When this service launches in October there will be over 20 separate fully customisable items. Right now the company is verifying all files to make sure that they are printable on the most popular consumer 3D printers. The service will be focused on the production of useful household items such as book-ends, vases and lamps.
Volodymyr added: "We've had really positive feedback, and also invited many designers to sell useful products on our platform. Martin Zampach, Clara Batlle, Bernat Cuni and Daniel Hilldrup, well-known designers and artists, are going to open their stores on Kwamb.io."
Makers will benefit from a community feel to the service which will allow users to like and share products created by others and follow their favourite designers. Designers will eventually be able to make money from their files and can currently sign up to a private beta to grab a first look at the service.
