The technical demands, production rate and pace of innovation in aerospace and motorsport make those industries fertile ground for development of new materials for additive manufacturing. Working together with technology supplier ALM, engineers from Boeing and Lotus F1 Team collaborated on the development of a family of isotropicaly reinforced thermoplastic materials for the laser sintering process. Brett Lyons, Project Engineer, The Boeing Company and Patrick Warner, ADM Manager, Lotus F1 Team, describe the new materials, how they were developed collaboratively and some of their applications.
