Mcor Launches Matrix 300
Mcor Technologies has launched the Matrix 300 3D printer into the US market at Rapid 2012. The Matrix is reportedly the only 3D printer that can take reams of letter paper and turn them into 3D objects.
The company also used the first day of the show to announce the Mcor Iris full-colour 3D printer. Based on the Matrix platform the new printer will use a combination of 2D printing and the layered paper technology to build full-colour models from paper.
The company says that the system is still in development but will be ready for Q3 or Q4 of 2012. The Iris will print 'photo-realistic' parts with the resolution and colour reproduction you would expect of a modern 2D colour printer.
The company expects the colour printer to be used in engineering, education, AEC, GIS and entertainment — industries that the Matrix 300 has already had success in.
In the company's press release they promise further developments to come with "many other products to roll out in the near future". Combined with the company's unique (in the AM world) pricing structure Mcor is setting itself apart as a company that takes the path less travelled on the way to 'unfettered innovation'.
